7467. Narrated Abdullah bin Umar r.a.: I heard Allahs Messenger, while he was standing on the pulpit, saying, The remaining period of your stay (on the earth) in comparison to the nations before you, is like the period between the Asr prayer and sunset. The people of the Taurat (Torah) were given the Torah and they acted upon it till midday, and then they were worn out and were given for their labour, one Qirat each. Then the people of the Injeel (Gospel) were given the Injeel and they acted upon it till the time of the Asr prayer, and then they were worn out and were given (for their labour), one Qirat each. Then you people were given the Quran and you acted upon it till sunset and so you were given two Qirat each (double the reward of the previous nations). Then the people of the Taurat (Torah) said, O our Lord! These people have done a little labour (much less than we) but have taken a greater reward.’ Allah said, Have I withheld anything from you reward They said, No. Then Allah said, That is My Favour which I bestow on whom I wish.

7467. Dari Abdullah bin Umar r.a.: Aku mendengar Rasulullah, ketika ia sedang berdiri di sebuah anak tangga, berkata, Sisa waktu keberadaan kalian (di bumi) dibandingkan dengan kaum sebelummu, adalah seperti masa di antara waktu Ashar dan tenggelamnya matahari. Pengikut Taurat telah diberikan kitab Taurat dan mereka beribadah atasnya hingga tengah hari, kemudian mereka merasa lelah dan masing-masing mendapat satu Qirat atas apa yang telah mereka kerjakan. Dan pengikut Injil telah diberikan kitab Injil dan mereka beribadah atasnya hingga waktu Ashar, kemudian mereka merasa lelah dan masing-masing mendapat satu Qirat atas apa yang telah mereka kerjakan. Kemudian kamu telah diberikan kitab Al-Quran dan kamu beribadah atasnya hingga matahari terbenam maka kamu masing-masing mendapatkan dua Qirat (dua kali lebih banyak dibandingkan kaum sebelumnya).

Kemudian pengikut Taurat berkata, Ya Tuhan kami! Orang-orang ini telah bekerja lebih sedikit dari apa yang telah kami lakukan tetapi mendapatkan ganjaran yang lebih besar. Allah berkata, Apakah Aku telah mengambil dari apa yang engkau dapatkan Mereka berkata, Tidak. Kemudian Allah berkata,Itulah kehendak-Ku yang Aku limpahkan kepada siapa yang Aku kehendaki.
